This is one of my favorite possessions. I've kept it on my desk for almost 30 years. It's from a museum gift shop and reproduces the pattern of a Victorian doorknob.
Not only is it a great paperweight, it fits beautifully in the palm of my hand, with just the right heft. Sometimes when I'm on the phone with someone difficult, I imagine giving it a good fling at that person's head. Empowering, that.
Lovely. I have a strong attraction to antique doorknobs. It think it comes from growing up in an antique house. I like to imagine the stories they could tell about the hands that have touched them over time.
